Answer by ricogoldstar
If the person is not computer savay, and don’t know how to cover their tracks very well, you can check the internet history in the address bar. Check the google search engine history to by clicking on the down arrow in the google toolbar. You can check for recent cookies, recently visited sites or recently downloaded files in the temporary internet folder, or temp. downloads folder. Or you can just set up a webcamera and spy on them.

Question by Tony: Whats wrong with my computer? It was working fine in the morning and then all of a sudden it has problems.?
My computer(hp) was working fine the way I left it in the morning. When i got home SUDDENLY, I notice a few big problems. It takes a HUGE amount of time to turn on, turn off, load, etc. It is very slow now. There is no audio, in the morning it was fine and now the computer did not detect any audio device when i went to the audio settings. Things had changed such as, the explorer bar (bottom bar on the screen that shows all the programs your on,has the start button , tells time) it used to be sliver which i had customized in the settings, and now its the windows default and it’s gray. The window to every program (its the top bar of the program your on, it has the X button on it, Minimize button on it, etc.) also had changed from silver to windows default gray. My norton antivirus wont update because it can’t conect to the internet. Everytime i start it up it always gives me a message saying it has to terminate programs like svchost? I scaned it for viruses, spyware, and it detected none

Question by Flygirl: What’s the best antivirus software out there?
I already have Norton and my subscription is up.
Best answer:
Answer by Rommel
Norton stinks to get rid of most viruses, worms, adware, etc.
Step 1.
Download Avast! Home Edition as this is THE best free antivirus protection out there. Only drawback is you have to register within 60 days for free and every year after. But hey! You get it forever!
Anyways you also have to manual scan, but it isn’t a resourse hog and it scans everything your computer writes and reads as well as internet sites and emails. I love it. As well they update it about every day!
It found several viruses after I deleted Norton 360 and has found several since.
Download here: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Editi…
Register here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registrati…
Step 2.
As well try downloading malwarebytes anti-malware, updating, and scanning.
MBAM redirects you here for download. (MBAM) Go here to download: http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant…
Step 3.
Proceed by downloading “SuperAntiSpyware Free” from the link below (As the title suggests, this is also free), follow any
instructions required to install it, update the virus definitions, then run a full scan, also clean any infections found
after the scan has completed.
http://www.superantispyware.com/
Step 4.
You may also consider to be sure that all Malware has been removed from your system download “Kaspersky’s Virus Removal Tool” (Free) from the link
below and run a full scan, this will already be updated to the day you download and install it, after the scan clean any
infections found. download here
http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devb…
Step 5.
Consider doing a scan of your computer with MBAM and superantispyware every 2-4 weeks with a maximum of a system scan every month. (I recommend 2-3 weeks.)
P.S. make sure to unistall all other antivirus products before installing avast and never have more than one installed at a time.
Hope this helps and enjoy a better computer!

If you can’t afford a new processor, then you can’t get a new processor. The only way you could improve it is by overclocking it, but judging by what little information that wall of text gave, you couldn’t really overclock your CPU that much.
Try saving up 100$ and getting a cheap core2duo, just make sure you get a motherboard that has the correct cpu socket, or that your current mobo has a compatible socket.

Well my monitor will not turn on with the 430w power supply I’m currently using for the ATI so I’m probably gonna go out and buy a 500w-600w power supply to get it running. Any suggestions for some good ones?
Best answer:
Answer by Pi
I’d recommend getting a core 2 Quad (best processor on the same socket) or something to replace that pentium D, because that is probably the thing that’s slowing down your computer the most. As for the power supply, you should check newegg for something, it’s probably best to look for one with an 80 Plus rating.

Neither.
Get AVG Free or Avira Free. You don’t have to pay for them, and they’re better than any cheap piece of crap that you’ll find on the shelves, except for maybe Kaspersky or similar software (although Kaspersky is sometimes beaten by AVG).

Question by dearambivalence: What’s slowing down my laptop: age or usage?
Hey, I’ve got a Dell XPS M140 that I’ve owned for about three years now. For the past few months it’s been taking quite a while to load up when I turn the system on and off. I watch the processes under task manager to see if anything’s hogging up resources, but the idle process is the main thing running. I’m wondering if this is because of its age or how I use it.
I basically treat it like a desktop – it’s usually turned on for days at a time, and 99% of the time it’s running on the adapter instead of the battery. Right now 30% of my harddrive is free, and I run Spybot, defrag, and disk cleanup once a month or so, on top of the antivirus provided by my college (they don’t let us use anything but their mongrel basic McAfee VirusScan). I use the internet heavily, especially Youtube, and I regularly uninstall programs I don’t use, but they like to leave remains sometimes.
For about a year I had only 15% of my harddrive space free, taken up by a game that would crash my graphics card sometimes. I’ve since uninstalled it, and none of the games I play now really push the card.
Any ideas as to what’s causing a lag, or suggestions for freeware that might help me further clean up my computer?

Microsoft Windows has been known to cause exactly the slowdowns you describe. Get yourself Ubuntu, or another Linux distro, problem solved.

Get AVG, it is very good. I started using it two years ago and I am very pleased with its performance. They have a free version that you can download from,

If you like it then you can buy the full version.
