Many of these problems are Firewall related. Disable your firewall and try again. If that doesn’t work contact the antivirus company.

Question by nycti2000: Somebody know if I can update the following versions of NOD32?
I need to take the Virus signature database from one computer connected to Internet so as to download them into my pendrive and take them to a computer which is not connected to Internet.
The problem is that it is asking me a User name and password (I don’t have them) and I have no idea if it is possible to use a fix, keygen, or whatever to get the Virus Database.
These are the ones I have been trying:
NOD32 ANTIVIRUS Busyness Edition ver. 3.0.645.0, ver. Virus Signature Database 2911(20080229).
ESET NOD32 ANTIVIRUS ver. 4.0.314.0, ver. Virus Signature Database 3890(20090226).
Thank you.

Question by London: How long does Panda Antivirus take to update?
It’s set on automatic updates. I click on update, it searches for the updates and then tells me it’s updating. The little green circle is spinning next to its icon on the toolbar, and I assumed that it’d be done sometime…My computer is on for a long time! But every time I open it, it says the last update date several moths ago, and the protection level still on LOW!
Help!

Question by Big gorgonzola: Anti Virus update Question?
Every anti virus Program Downloads updates, some Hourly Some Daily. My question is where are these updates coming from. There are hundreds of different softwares but they all have to be uploading the same anti virus files right? so from where? And how does one company manage to upload faster then another?
Best answer:
Answer by Crazzychk
It’s all about how much space one company has. Generally the software will reach out on port 80 to the companies IP address (Port 80 is your internet port). Some companies are faster because they will own whole class C ip ranges so there are more ways to get in and get updates.
Every company has different engineers but they basically write the same scripts to stop the viruses. They Generally get the virus information from fellow people in the computer industry.
working for an anti spam/spyware/virus company we get hit hard by viruses so our engineers are usually up to date on whats out there.

Question by Alex: I downloaded Vipre Anit-virus protection but it won’t update!?
I just downloaded Vipre Antivirus because my other expired, then I got a virus and all these pop ups started to occur and its slowing down my pc. So i bought Vipre online for $ 30 bucks, and when I got it installed it won’t update due to server problems. Its been like this for 2 days, and I’v tried to update it every half hour and it keeps saying cannot update due to server problems, internet problems or sunbelt servers. So i can’t get rid of the virus because I can’t scan the computer unless the stupid thing is updated! But it won’t fucking update!. Anyone know what the problem is? I think the virus is Rogue virus, and i think its keeping me from updating it.

You are correct. Most likely it is a malware infection blocking it.
Scan your PC with Malwarebytes free version.

Question by notoms: I have Norton Antivirus 2004 and I came across error LU6004 during live Update?
which says “LiveUpdate did not complete successfully…” I tried to fix the problem through Symantec’s website which advised me to download Intelligent Updater. I tried downloading it with my IE7 browser like it instructed me to but it wouldn’t download. Does it have something to do with having my subscription lapse? I haven’t received any recent messages asking me to renew my subscription. Should I reinstall my Antivirus software?

Question by Lasha: windows/antivirus update, worms?
when I try to update windows or antivirs, or just type word “antivirus” in google, the window shuts immediately by itself. I have absolutely no clue how the spywares generate in my computer, but every day if I do not clean the local disk manually, it is filled with some sort of porn spywares or worms or whatever is that. I have absolutely no idea how those files are downloaded in my computer. I do not go to porn sites at all and I am the only user of my computer. I had Ares and thought it was bringing all those crap, but it’s doing the same thing even if I deleted that program. I have AVG antivirus and when scanning it’s showing the porn files in the locations which I do not see. I enabled hidden file view, but it’s still not showing up and AVG is still scanning those locations. I tried to use various spywares, adwares, scanned the computer with different online antivirus scanners, but it is not detecting anything and it’s still doing that wheird things. can anybody tell me what to do?
