The home user need never pay for anti virus.
do this on-line scan first : http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/
only if you think you might be infected now.
Then
i suggest you go and get Avast : http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
you can not get a better anti virus system for free.
it has many features you will have to pay for in other systems.
don’t forget to register or you will only have it for 30 days
by registering you will get a licence for a full year.
just re-register at the end of the year to get another one year licence.
if you do not like the look of Avast
then microsoft supply a system for free..
Microsoft Security Essentials : http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/
the next best free one is Avira
Avira : http://www.free-av.com/en/products/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html
remember you must only have one antivirus system on your computer at anyone time.
if you want a complete internet security system
then there is,
Comodo Internet Security : http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/free-internet-security.php
use side by side with
Security 360 Free : http://www.iobit.com/security360.html
☺

Question by Chuck: How do I make a copy of the anti-virus program that I downloaded a couple of days ago?
A few days ago I download an anti-virus and they recommend I make a back-up. I have never made one before and I need step by step instructions on the procedure. I have blank CD-RWs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer by BigTime
a backup is used when your antivirus deletes the wrong programs after scanning…..after viruses are found, your anti-virus will ask you to backup before removing the viruses because things might go wrong…your backup will un-delete the files deleted back to normal

Question by mobiuslemniscus: Which is the best antivirus program to buy without slowing down my computer?
I have a year old Toshiba and it runs quickly and smoothly and I use it for gaming mostly – nothing serious, just Sims 2 and Guild Wars and Oblivion. But I like the fact that my computer processor is efficient and there is no lag in running the games. However, my internet service provider is threatening to shut off my internet unless I get my computer protected… my Toshiba is my baby and I love it, so I want a great program that will not only clean up whatever might have already gotten into the system, but also protect it from anything else that could harm it. I just don’t want the antivirus program to ruin my computer’s speed. I used Norton once with a past computer and I hated it because it seemed to cause EVERYTHING to slow down…is that normal? And what program SHOULD I get?

you should buy Avira Antivirus it’s light and good software and it does not take much from your RAM and there’s also ESET Smart Security the same as Avira and you can buy them easily

Question by Hickemtwiddle: What is the very best anti virus program?
I bought Norton. It didn’t work. I bought Fix It Utilities 7 and it does not work. Seems the virus, a Trojan, keeps coming back. I tried their spyware detector, and found nothing. Anti virus keeps finding a trojan, I have deleted it 3 times, I have quarrantined it 4 times. But, it keeps coming back. Are there any good anti virus programs?

Question by : What is the best antivirus and malware program for free and not a trial?
Best answer:
Answer by No Feeding The Hippies, Please.
it is best just to buy one. Free malware and antivirus will never be the best protection you can get. Just pay 60$ per year and buy protection. It is worth it, believe me.
