Question by : How come I try to install norton anti virus on my computer and it doesn’t work?
So I wanted to watch this funny video and then this software said “your computer is infected! download security suite for full protection today!” So I did then I looked it up and found out it was a fake. I tried to remove it manually but many instructions to remove it are very hard to understand. So, I bought Norton Anti Virus and tried to download it so I could remove it. But everytime i put the cd in, nothing showed up. help?

Format your hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

In some extreme cases, anti-virus or anti malware, programs may not be able to remove all malware. It may be necessary to reformat your hard drive and reinstall its operating system. If you’re using a laptop computer, installing the operating system from the partition backup may not completely remove malware. Instead, be sure to get installation disks for your operating system from your hardware vendor and use those to reinstall your operating system.
Norton is commercial crapware it will Not remove the malware infection.

No, the days start counting down when you install it, and put the key code in when you install it.

Question by zroForz: How can I install both Nod32 Anti virus and Nod32 Smart Security together?
It will let me install Nod32 Anti Virus, but when I try to install Smart Security as well, it wants to remove Anti Virus. This also happens vice versa.
Thanks,
zroForz

Answer by Michael
You can’t do that ….they will not allow it as ESET Smart
Security offers the same Anti-Malware/Anti Virus protection
as ESET NOD32 Antivirus along with a personal firewall
and antispam.
So the ONLY difference is personal firewall and antispam
EXTRA in Smart Security and that is why its saying to
remove antivirus as you cannot have two ANTIVIRUS
and not only that but the two you want are exactly the SAME.

Question by WhiteTiger29: I just got a new laptop. I didn’t have Best Buy install all the antivirus/spyware etc software on my comp.
I figured I could just buy it and do it myself. What is a really good one to buy? I heard Norton’s is bad. I need one that covers everything bc I definitely do NOT want any viruses or anything going wrong with the comp, esp bc I didn’t get the extended service plan with my comp………any advice???

Question by Miss Linda: Experts Only – Can’t get Windows Installer to stop popping up – Previously crashed install, keeps trying..
Here’s the deal. As a CS major, I’ve kind of exhausted every route on this one, and asked this question a few times already.
I tried installing Earthlink last year and my computer froze up on me – that’s what I get for multitasking. Upon rebooting, it couldn’t finish installing for some reason and then, for some reason, every time I tried to open a program, be it Firefox or word, my computer tries to open WI and it tries to install this old Earthlink program. It tries 3 times and stops. I’ve temporarily bypassed it by disabling WI, but whenever I have to install something else its a pain to go into services.msc to re-enable it.
1) It’s not spyware. I have ZoneAlarm and every top-level antivirus and spyware program on my computer.
2) It’s not my start menu, I’ve gone through msconfig and cleaned out anything unnecessary
3) It’s not my registry. I’ve gone through it with Registry Cleaner.
Any other suggestions?
A few details – I’m not at my home computer currently, but I wanted to note – Earthlink shows up in Add/Remove programs but I am unable to remove it from there currently as well – I forgot to mention that. I had thought if I re-downloaded it and tried to install it again and uninstall it would work, but it could not complete the install. And my initial problem still stood. Oddly enough, under Program Files, there is no Earthlink directory with any files in it…
I will try that tip when I get home and post details later. Thank you again for your help. In re: to the MSI file – how can i search to find that particular file, if it exists?
Again, its not the startup menu. Both of the suggestions below did not work unfortunately…
Does anyone have any answers that may work? Please read what I have written already and offer me a suggestion that can help me out! Thank you!

Answer by Helpful
Try a program like “startup control panel” (freeware – easily searchable /downloadable on the net). This type of utility can show which programs load (also from the registry) that msconfig may not show. If you’re uncertain which ones to prevent from loading or to delete then I suggest you re-post the list of unknown entries (on the different tabs).

Answer by Sourav Jaiswal
on which os are you installing and see where the software is for the os you installing. and if you are installing different software on different os then download the software for your os .
I the above case is not working then try to download the software again as it could be a corrupted file.
and if that too doesnt work then if you are using windows 7 then right click the setup and select the secnd tab and change the compatibilty to windows xp

Yahoo Antivirus LMAO..its a load of rubbish
download Avast (its free)
http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?tag=mncol
Once download , you go to the Avast website and register for the free home edition and they will send you the product key which last for a year , after the year just re-register …At the Avast you can also download skins for free if you don’t like the look of the free scanner
