Question by Me: Recommended settings for Avira 9!?
Avira is at the top of free antivirus’s now since antispyware/adware is on the free version everyone! HaHa.
For ya’ll Avira fans, what settings should I use to get the best in protection out of my Avira AntiVir Premium 9?

Avira and Avast are free so you won’t need to purchase these. Avast is better than AVG but Avira might even be better than Avast. Avira has higher detection rates than AVG or Avast! (94.26%).
Kaspersky and NOD32 are the best anti-virus programs available. I use NOD32 because it’s lighter on my system than Kaspersky. Either of these programs are highly recommended. Recent tests prove Kaspersky and NOD32 are better than the best sellers Norton and McAfee.
Norton is rubbish, it’s notoriously bloated and likes to take over your system. Trend Micro Antivirus is a viable alternative if you’re having a lot of trouble with software conflicts. Trend Micro rounds out the top three. BitDefender is very good as well, but gives a high number of false alarms.

Hi, I downloaded Online Armor recently and I was wondering if it was the most secure (free) firewall I can get or if I should revert to Comodo. Also if you know if OA conflicts with Avira AntiVirus then let me know ^_^. Thanks in advance.

The firewall test formerly known as the Matousec Firewall Leak Test has been expanded and is now called the Matousec Firewall Challenge.
In the test results you will see that the paid version of OA is rated better than Comodo, but the free version of OA is slightly below Comodo.

The first thing that comes to mind is that a malware infection is blocking Avira. Scan your PC with Malwarebytes free version. Use the quick scan option.

i have avira which is a very good antivirus but i dont think that it has website warning so i also have macafee but although it warns about bad websites its not very good at detecting viruses. plus two antiviruses are bad and take up a lot of space. does avira have website warning and if not is there a good anti virus that does?

i’m using Avast! Free Antivirus 5.0. The new version has been released on their website. It s a freeware. You can register yourself on the avast website to recive the registration key . They provide timely updates (small in size, ie. In kb’s. Which s usefull for people with limited internet plans ). It s fully legal n it generates a virus recovery database to report avast about the new viruses .
To detect n delete malwares on your comp use malware bytes . Another free software . N a powerfull tool to clean your comp of malwares. I use these softwares myself .

it wouldn’t let me update the software and now im stuck..to where i needed to re-install the program and it won’t let because its giving me this error to where the installation wizard won’t let go next due to the following: ensure that the i-net connection can be accessed, ensure that the system date is correct, if in use check ur modem connection, ensure that the application fact.exe can access the i-net and is not blocked by firewall (turned it off, still nothing)…plz any help is appreciated

Question by tough life: mcafee scan detect 0 virus. But after that comodo antivirus detect 31 virus & after that Avira detect 5 virus?
Where are so many viruses coming from? I only use my computer to visit porn websites most of the time. I had mcafee security suite. My computer was having trouble, so i did full scan. 0 virus detected by mcafee.
I knew mcafee wasn’t doing the job, so i unistalled it (even though i have subscription) and downloaded comodo antivirus (because its free). Comodo detected 31 viruses — many trojans and malwares. I then made comodo delete those 31 infectious files.
So I thought now I should have clean computer. But then just to check if i really have clean, i turned off real time protection in comodo and installed free avira.
Free avira detected yet 5 more viruses!!!!!!! That is after comodo cleaned 31 viruses. So altogether 36 viruses and malware was detected by comodo and avira combined.
But mcafee detect 0 virus and said computer is clean. How come?

Some may have been false positives. McAfee does not have a high detection rate, Stick with one, and then use free of malwarebytes antimalware and free superantispyware once a week.
