Question by amit: F-secure mobile anti virus and mobile security?
When I search on F-secure website, I get two things, mobile antivirus and mobile security. Is it required to install both on my Nokia N73 ME , if not which one of them is required for complete protection. How to install free trial version and what to do after trial period.

Answer by Vesselin Bontchev
“F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus” is for Symbian S60 R2 phones and includes a virus scanner only. However, your phone uses the Symbian S60 R3 operating system. For that, you need “F-Secure Mobile Security for S60 3rd Edition” – it includes a virus scanner and a firewall.
You install the product like you install any other program on your phone. Once installed, the program has a menu item that would allow you to register it on-line. Your phone must have GPRS access properly configured, or you won’t be able to register and update the product.
Strictly, speaking, however, you don’t need this program (or any other like it). There are no viruses for Symbian S60 R3. Unlike the R2 version (for which viruses do exist), the R3 version is much more secure and is incompatible with the R2 version. Buying an anti-virus program for it is a waste of money and phone memory, IMHO.

The home user need never pay for anti virus.
do this on-line scan first : http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/
only if you think you might be infected now.
Then
i suggest you go and get Avast : http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
you can not get a better anti virus system for free.
it has many features you will have to pay for in other systems.
don’t forget to register or you will only have it for 30 days
by registering you will get a licence for a full year.
just re-register at the end of the year to get another one year licence.
if you do not like the look of Avast
then microsoft supply a system for free..
Microsoft Security Essentials : http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/
the next best free one is Avira
Avira : http://www.free-av.com/en/products/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html
remember you must only have one antivirus system on your computer at anyone time.
if you want a complete internet security system
then there is,
Comodo Internet Security : http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/free-internet-security.php
use side by side with
Security 360 Free : http://www.iobit.com/security360.html
☺

Question by ABC: why is my norton anti virus asking me to turn of my firewall?
It has been about a week and everytime I turn on my computer a box pops that has the Norton Antivirus 360 logo on the top left and then there is an orange circle with an exclamation point that says “Security alert” it reads on to say “The Norton 360 Firewall provides your PC with the best defense against online threats. Norton reccommends that you turn OFF windows firewall. Do you want to do this now?
First of all, why would I ever want to turn off my firewall? I don’t understand. I have noticed though that as a precaution I have been checking my security settings since that box started popping up and usually my firewall is off so I have to turn it back on. When I say “No” to turning it off the little icon goes to my little task bar thingie and I can see the little exclamation thing by my clock on bottom right.
It has been running slow whereas before when I would click to log on it would do it faster. How can I check my PC to make sure that there is no virus? and whats the deal with the security alert thing asking me to turn off my firewall? any advice would be helpful, thanks.
