I’ve heard that there are free versions of spy sweeper and anti- virus protection. I need something that will protect my computer. Because I dont want to pay for Spy sweeper any more. Any Ideas?

Webroot Spy Sweeper 3-User

I updated Spy Sweeper and it said the file was damaged and to reinstall it. I tried downloading the update but that didn’t work. I uninstalled it and now I want to reinstall it to see if that works. I already paid for a subscription, and I don’t want to get a new subscription. How can I download it again?

I have a program called “Spy Sweeper” on my computer. I use Windows XP, internet explorer 7, and I also have a trojan remover installed.

I allowed Spy Sweeper to expire but still keep it because it has shields which supposedly block threats to my PC. However as of late it has been acting weird. Tonight it told me that 4 of it’s 12 shields were off for no reason and when I finally fixed that problem I encountered another: Now, for some reason, when I go to visit yahoo mail, or Amazon I am being re-directed to a Google search page and being told that they cannot find the site I am looking for. BUT- when I shut down Spy Sweeper, Internet explorer will then give me these two sites without a problem.

Could Spy Sweeper really be causing this trouble? Is this program really worth keeping? I have a spyware removal system installed already, but keep Spy Sweeper for it’s ability to block pop ups or harmful programs. Should I just let it go? Any suggestions?
Thanks for the answer but that really wasn’t my question. I am concerned about still having a “blocker” in place, but my main concern is this: Is Spy Sweeper messing with my PC where I cannot get acess to certain sites? I think it is, because when I shut it down I have no problem. But I’d like another opinion.
