Question by HonestOpinion: Kaspersky vs Norton 360?
I just noticed this new Norton 360 program. How does it stack up against Kaspersky? Kaspersky is good but it really slows down my computer when the protection is active! Note that I currently have a trial version loaded and I haven’t uninstalled the Norton 2006 that came with my laptop (although I disable it in the background).

My computer is 6 months old and has an Intel Centrino Duo processor so would have imagined it wouldn’t have such problems running Kaspersky!!

Help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Well, I wouldn’t spend too much money for an expensive antivirus tool. There are 3 good antivirus softwares for free, but only install ONE on your computer:

AVG Free 7.5 at http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2
Antivir by Avira at http://www.free-av.com
or
AVAST Free at http://www.avast.com

Again, only ONE antivirus software on your computer!!! And UNINSTALL your previous antivirus software before you download and install a new one!

“Norton” was a good antivirus software a few years ago, but today, “Norton” only is crap and a lousy antivirus software, not worth the money at all.

@ PC Helper: These 3 free antivirus are all 100 times better than that lousy, bad and crappy “Norton”!!! Norton is known for being bad and lousy. AVAST, for example, has much more functions to offer and is 100 times safer & better than Norton….But, some people thinks that you only get a good software when you pay for it, but this is not true at all.

right, im in a dilemma – after research

if i go for kaspersky do i go for the kaspersky 2009 or kaspersky Internet security?? or both? ?

Also, i am using norton 360 at the mo and i like how it was doing everything like tuning up pc, pc security, identity protection etc.

But which to go for?? thanks everyone

I’m partial toward Avast. Mainly because you can get it free! Or choose the advanced program for a fee.

It seems to catch most viruses (Home Version) and updates itself regularly.

Norton AV has issues as a memory hog and conflicts with other software if used on a network.

I’ve not tried Kaspersky, so I am not familiar with the pros and cons of it.

Norton tends to cause many system conflics and instabilities. Kapersky has an amazing track record for virus detection and even heuristics (without slowing the sytem down a lot).

Kaspersky is good, but norton is most popular. If norton annoys you go with kaspersky, it will still give you excellent protection
