Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 offers the best protection as it contains a firewall as well as one of the best anti-viruses avaliable
Avast 4.8 Home Edition uses far less resources, is nearly as good at detecting viruses and is free but does not include a firewall.

I just installed Windows 7 RC and I’m debating which security software I should install. I have been using McAfee for a while, its pretty good cept it’s a total resource hog and slows things down. I’ve heard about Avast and Kaspersky but haven’t really tried them. I do alot of downloading and p2p type things so I would think I need something solid. Putting money aside, which one offers the best security?
**Also I don’t really want to download 4 or 5 different programs, so an internet security suite would be nicer

Norton is what I use, and it’s really good. It always catches intrusions, and stops them before a virus gets into my computer. Overall, I suggest Norton. :]

I have trouble deciding between those two programs. They both are good, but have their things with me. When I had avast! installed last week, the scans found multiple things, which is good, but I noticed that for some reason my hard drive’s GBs would steadily decline a bit once in a while for no reason. I switched to Kas and the declination stopped. But when I run scans with Kas, they don’t really find much. Although I heard Kas is the best, you have to change alot of stuff to fully protect you. I’m not sure what those are.
Also, what’s the best anti-spyware out there? My Spy Sweeper just expired today, and Ad-Aware doesn’t find much of anything. I still have Counterspy V2 but I’m not sure if it’s good or not. Please help. Thanks in advance!

I prefer avast as kaspersky likes to delete dll’s etc..but it’s a matter of opinion..I also love the power of the boot time scan that avast uses…cheers
