I am having trouble with this security called cyberpatrol my father added to my computer but I’m sick of it!!!!! It limits the computer use (time) and also blocks download sites!!!!! Can you how i can go past the security??????

If you live at home and your dad pays all the bills, then he has the right to put whatever he wants on the computer. He doesn’t want to be arrested when illegal downloads are made from his internet connection. The whole point of the program is you cannot get past it without a password. Only option is to restore the whole computer to the way it was before the program was installed.

The easiest way to uninstall any program is to go to your Start menu, and select “control panel.” Then select “add or remove programs” – cyberpatrol is (hopefully) on this list – just click uninstall (you will probably have to restart your computer).

my parents put up this cyberpatrol thing and it blocks practically every site i go to!!! if i want to get into a site i have to get my parents to type in their password, for which it gives no hint, and its uber annoying to call them every time i log into facebook or go onto youtube or my email. is anyone familiar with this program or know how i can get past it? thanks soo much =D

There’s only one way you can “get past it” – with the password. Sorry. (You could delete it, but that would probably get you into a lot of trouble with your parents.)

I need help from all the nerds out there.

I use computers at the library sometimes and for some odd reason it blocks sites that it shouldn’t be blocking so I was wondering if someone could tell me how to get past it.
I’ve tried asking a librarian, she said its against the rules to let people (even adults) use sites that are blocked. Even normal sites like myspace or netscape.

If you an adult, the librarian should allow you to bypass cyberpatrol. Can not hurt to ask!

Looking for a high-quality subscription-based Internet content filter software package for the PC (eventually will want to apply this to a Mac next year – but not at this point) which also, preferably, controls access to applications executed and times which the computer can – and can not – be used. I like granularity (users, different age groups, different levels of access based on these) and the ability to centrally configure things if possible. I know this is a lot to ask for, and I’ve read a lot of reviews. Obviously, I don’t want to spend crazy amounts of money, but I imagine that a subscription-based service will be both reasonable and regularly kept up-to-date. For context, these are two autistic children, ages 11 and 13. They’ve had free reign on their computers – both in the amount of time they have, and the access to sites/applications – for a long time now. It’s annoying when the kids close their browser windows every single time an adult enters their room.

Please provide specific details about the program or programs you recommend, and why you think it would be a good fit.

Kids are always going to close their browser, because they want privacy, just as much as you want privacy.

Honestly, the best way to control access, is to bring the computer out of their rooms and into a public room in the house. The software is always going to block something that shouldnt be, or not block something that should be. Beyond that, its only as good as your password. Maybe parents have gotten smarter by now, but my parents always thought they had great perfect passwords…. Passwords that took me less than 5 mins to figure out.

Im using Comcast Cable.
My dad hooked up a wi-fi router and all the computers use that now.(My dad’s is plugged directly into the router)
My computer is the only one connected through the wall and not directly to the router.

What are you using to connect to the wall? Is your house wired for LAN and is that LAN routed through a cable modem? Try connecting to the router.
