I really like AVG. I read something about anti viruses, and it said that AVG only detects about 40% of viruses and trojans. It also said that the new Avira detects about 70% of them. Should I stick with AVG, or should I switch to Avira? Does it really matter all that much?

AVG sucks…..Avira and Avast are a lot better than AVG ……but if you are happy with AVG then why change

I’ve been using AVG free for years and have never had problems, it always has detected viruses quickly. However, I read in MaximumPC magazine that Avira AntiVirus is one of the best free AVs available. Which one is better and why, in your opinion?

Two reason why Avira is better. Avira has a higher detection and removal rate than AVG. The other reason is AVG lacks rootkit protection. Rootkits are a big deal and you should have protection from them. This is not my opinion, this is based on Lab tests of detection of malware. Also AVG site states that the free version lacks rootkit protection.

I don’t want to know that based on your past experiences that AVG Inernet Security was better because…. or Avira was….. I want to hear facts, like I heard Avira has a higher detection rate but takes longer to update… Please don’t tell me that both of them suck as I know very well that these are pretty decent free anti virus. Don’t forget its a AVG INTERNET SECURITY and not free edition but it is Avira Free edition.

I have found that AVG slows down my customers’ computers. So I switched them all to Avast.
