Avast wins by a mile. AVG slower scans, higher “false positives”, lower detection rates on Script Malware and General Malware.
Avast, Avira, Kaspersky, McAfee, Norton, Nod32 all tested higher than AVG.

Their both great. The only difference I have found is that AVG runs a little slower. But I’ve just ran the free ones, so theres better features with the professional of each. I think you should stay with Avast though.

I have AVG 7.5 on my new laptop, I use my lap top for homework only and i want to TRY to keep it clean from spyware or viruses. I dont have a spyware protector and ive been looking up some. From what it seems Avast and Ad-Aware are the best. i want one that will remove trojan horses and not just detects them which one is best?

see, trojans can not all be removed automatically even by the best of antivirus programs, for that they post manual removal instructions, which you have to read and follow

Nod32 is far better antivirus program. It consistently wins the vb100 , is costs a little but worth it. You cannot have 2 antivirus programs at the same time, will conflict with each other and cause mucho troubles.

I have done some research and found these to be the best free Anti Viruses. I don’t know which to use on my computer.
These are the main things I want to know
Which has the best…
- Detection of viruses
- Interface/ ease of use
- Real time protection
- lightness on the computer (doesn’t slow the computer down)
- other features
I don’t need a firewall because i already use Comodo Firewall Pro, nor an anti spyware because i already use Lavasoft Ad Aware. I am also planning on getting firefox.
