i would reccomend AVG. try the trial software first that can be dowloaded from the internet.

Question by April: help my computer is going crazy!!!
The blue screen keeps popping up. It says a problem has been detected, tells me to restart and if that doesn’t work disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing. For the life of me I cant find where or how to disable BIOS.
Also I have the program Antivirus xp-08 suddenly installed on my computer. I know that is a fake antivirus program but I cannot remove it. I have tried uninstalling it and it will not go away. When I go to add remove programs its not listed.
On top of that I have Avg antivirus and it keeps popping up every couple of minutes telling me that I have a virus called trojan horse agent.ZAK and gives me the option to put it in the vault or heal it. I have tried clicking both options and it continues to pop up.
All of this started happening yesterday so I’m assuming its all related.
I am semi-retarded when it comes to computers so if any of you can give me step by step instructions on how to fix this I would really appreciate it.

My computer(hp) was working fine the way I left it in the morning. When i got home SUDDENLY, I notice a few big problems. It takes a HUGE amount of time to turn on, turn off, load, etc. It is very slow now. There is no audio, in the morning it was fine and now the computer did not detect any audio device when i went to the audio settings. Things had changed such as, the explorer bar (bottom bar on the screen that shows all the programs your on,has the start button , tells time) it used to be sliver which i had customized in the settings, and now its the windows default and it’s gray. The window to every program (its the top bar of the program your on, it has the X button on it, Minimize button on it, etc.) also had changed from silver to windows default gray. My norton antivirus wont update because it can’t conect to the internet. Everytime i start it up it always gives me a message saying it has to terminate programs like svchost? I scaned it for viruses, spyware, and it detected none

Right to get it functioning properly i recommend you use disc defragmenation it used to happen on my pc too, i started to use disk defrag and disc cleanup it does the job and try to minimize the number of incorrect shutdowns too.

It has been about a week and everytime I turn on my computer a box pops that has the Norton Antivirus 360 logo on the top left and then there is an orange circle with an exclamation point that says “Security alert” it reads on to say “The Norton 360 Firewall provides your PC with the best defense against online threats. Norton reccommends that you turn OFF windows firewall. Do you want to do this now?
First of all, why would I ever want to turn off my firewall? I don’t understand. I have noticed though that as a precaution I have been checking my security settings since that box started popping up and usually my firewall is off so I have to turn it back on. When I say “No” to turning it off the little icon goes to my little task bar thingie and I can see the little exclamation thing by my clock on bottom right.
It has been running slow whereas before when I would click to log on it would do it faster. How can I check my PC to make sure that there is no virus? and whats the deal with the security alert thing asking me to turn off my firewall? any advice would be helpful, thanks.

How do I remove. Did antivirus, avast, and avira. Did anti spyware, did system restore 3 differant dates. Do not want to go into the registry, as Iam not that exsperianced and dont want to remove good stuff. Any tricks other than the shop. Thanks, and a beer to the one that gets rid of it. Cheers.

Reboot PC and press the F8 key a couple of times before the Windows screen appears. Enter Safe Mode, or Safe Mode with Networking if you need network access) and download MalwareBytes from google ,Install it, update, and run a full system scan. Remove everything it finds. Next, run a full antivirus scan with something like Microsoft Security Essentials .Auslogics disk defrag and Auslogics registry cleaner are very good and fast to keep you clean and running good .all are free ,just google them

i was installing norton antivirus 2007 on my lap top which is a dell vostro . the bar which shows the process of completion was full and i waited for about half an hour for the process completed message to appear. as it was taking too long i pulled out my pendrive(from where i was installing it). suddenly my laptop got stuck and so i closed it so that it would go to the standby mode. when i opened it again, it got stuck again and so i closed it opened it again, now the monitor was on(which is usually off in standby mode) now it still is in that position and i have left it so that the charge would get over. and try turning it on again……so please tell me what to do , i have no clue what to do!!!!

Hold the power button until the power led turns completely off. Then restart. With Norton AntiVirus, if you can, uninstall or reinstall it because the installation wouldn`t be completed.
