Question by Rookie: I recently downloaded and bought the scam “Alpha Antivirus”, should i change my email address to be safe?
They got my debit card number, phone number, address and email address. I cancelled my debit card, had to get my laptop brought into best buy for removal of the virus and now im getting spam emails on my yahoo mail address. Should i delete my current email and start fresh? Or am i safe from any further problems?

Question by Win_se7enZ: use 1 real antivirus and 2 security.. is good?

disable real-time protection is bad idea. MBAM is not an A/V, it’s anti-malware protection, however AVG 2011 had improved comparing to 2010.
restore Real-time protection, perform updates for AVG either automatically or manually, and do updates for Windows and you’ll be okay.

Question by K!: Virus? Sass virus? logon.exe error? help?
Alright, so i think my computer has a virus. Ive been trying to figure this out all day. When I first start up my computer/log on, i get a message that says, “Windows cannot find logon.exe, blahblahhblah..”
and occasionally I get a message that says the following:
“System Shutdown
This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress
and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown
was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Time before shutdown: 0:59 ”
and then my computer restarts. when i open up internet explorer, it appears as if my homepage (google) is loading.. except that it never.. stops.. loading. but i can stll go to other websites and stuff.
now i’ve been doing my research and i kept seeing that this problem had something to do with the Sass virus. (and the lsass.exe folder in C:/windows/system32)
So i did a scan with my antivirus software (which is very good, top of the line, by the way) and it found nothing. i did a scan with the scanner off the microsoft website also, which took about 5 hours, it also found nothing. i also did a registry clean up. NOTHING. no viruses or problems found.
ahhh. help???
sorry this was so long!

Sounds like your computer is still infected. Install Microsoft Security Essentials from Microsofts site . Reboot Windows into safe mode (hit F8 before the Windows logo comes up) and run a scan. Also, update Malwarebytes and run that scan while in safe mode as well.
If it is still having problems, it may take some deeper investigation. Another thing you can do is go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. There is a hosts.ini file there. Make sure there are no entries at the bottom.

Question by unome: best internet security?
is mcafee antivirus 2011 a good program for my computer? please don’t tell me about free stuff. this is why i had to buy a new computer. i bought a dell 15r and it came with 15 months of mcafee anti virus plus 2011 thank you

I had 2 computers with Norton Antivirus and both got nuked by viruses. I’ve had McAfee on my last 3 computers with absolutely no problems. As far as I’m concerned, McAfee is the best.
Obviously, if you’re cruising shady sites and things like that, a virus is pretty much inevitable, you’re pretty much asking for it. But if you’re just an average web surfer, McAfee should be perfect.
