People should be careful of “Antivirus 2009″ purpotedly made by microsoft, it is a virus itself. in fact it is better not to use any antivirus as many of these antivirus particularly free ones always carry additional viruses

You may have to download the removal tools on another computer, and burn them to CD or copy them to a USB Memory stick.
Try running the cleaner programs in Safe Mode (hit the F8 function key as the machine boots up, and choose Safe mode)

precisescurity.com offers a free program to remove it if you can not get out in normal mode then go into safemode by rebooting and tapping the F8 key repeatedly and choosing safemode with networking if you still can not download then go to Safety.Live.com this is Microsoft’s safety scanner choose protection scan be patient this is a large download and the scan might take awhile depending on the number of files you have
ok heres how you get rid of the virus go to the grand canyon and throw it off the virus shouldnt be working anymore
You try manually removing it antivirus 2009. go to>Task manager then to>process>look at the list if you see antivirus 2009 running>click>end process then find antivirus files and delete them. You can also left click>start go to >run>type in>msconfig>then click OKor enter go to>startup tab if you see antivirus 2009 running disable it and then find antivirus files and delete them.

I found an easy way of removing it without buying any spyware program. It was using smitfraudfix. I followed the steps at this link http://www.pchubs.com/blogs/antivirus-2009-removal-process-remove-antivirus2009 and it worked. I did not get any more popups after following the steps.
